LA Baby! [Day 4]

It is now the end of day 4 in LA. We are a lot more relaxed now and having a good time. I am a lot more confident driving so we have been out on the roads a lot over the past couple of days. Weather has been hotter than I expected – the day we got here it was 31! Today was overcast but still warm.

Yesterday we went to universal studios. Was really cool – but I forgot the camera DOH! Got a few pictures on my cell phone before it went flat. There are heaps of tours and most were pretty good. All were really cheesy. I was disappointed we didn’t get to see more of the ‘behind the scenes’, but you had to pay around $200ea to do all that stuff. We did get to see a few cool things though…

Today we went to the La Brea Tar Pits. It is basically these big pits of tar where a whole lot of ice age fossils have been pulled out.

Then we went to Santa Monica Pier. It was pretty quiet so most of the rides were closed, but was still cool to go and see. The beaches here were even bigger than Venice! They went for miles. We also saw some really cool squirrels.

We spent the rest of the arvo shopping in Santa Monica. Its all really upper class and expensive. I got Jack-in-the-Box for dinner – a huge burger, two tacos, fries and a drink for about $5! I love America haha.


Making our way north up the coast tomorrow. Not exactly sure where we will end up, but just going to drive until we feel like stopping and find a place to stay. Should be good – I have been told the coast is really amazing.
